Ten Thousand Things

"Ten Thousand Things" is a Buddhist expression representing the dynamic interconnection and simultaneous unity and diversity of everything in the universe.

Lydia Venieri's photograph exhibition "NO EVIL" opens May 10 at Gallery Terra Tokyo

New York-based Greek artist Lydia Venieri's huge photographs on satin examine state-perpetrated violence through the eyes of a child's doll. Her disturbing and stunning reframing of examples of state repression of human beings that has become a "natural" feature of our global landscapes awakens us from the desensitization that results from the daily bombardment of images of violence we experience from childhood.

"Save the Panchen Lama" is one of the powerful works that will be exhibited. This work is especially timely given the fact that the global eye has turned once again to the extreme repression Tibetans have endured since the Chinese invasion of their country in 1951.

Her show, "NO EVIL" opens in Tokyo at the Gallery Terra in Roppongi.
