“I aspire to have a direct experience of luminous awareness that is free from grasping and aversion, and that is without distinction between “me” and “other.”  Furthermore, my aspiration is to use the medium of photography to give expression to those moments of direct awareness.”

KATRINA PRUETT is based in Portland, Oregon and is a Gelongma (fully ordained nun) in the Drukpa Kagyu lineage. Her interest in contemplative photography began as an internet query into whether there might be a connection between photography and meditation. That search led her to discover the Miksang Institute, and in the summer of 2014, upon retiring from her professional career, she became a Miksang Institute student under the tutelage of Michael Wood and Julie DuBose. The experience was life-changing, and this discipline has become an integral part of her daily life ever since.
