Kyoto Journal: 100 Views of Kyoto — A Tribute (Digital)
¥700
Kyoto Journal’s 100th Issue, now in PDF format with 18 additional articles
We’ve tapped regular and new Kyoto Journal contributors, including long-time residents and cultural experts, as well as international poets, writers, photographers and others to create a fresh collection of viewpoints, voices, reminiscences, personal accounts, sketches, photographs, and historical and literary quotes evoking the unique spirit of KJ’s hometown and inspiration, Kyoto.
KJ 100 / ‘100 Views of Kyoto–a Tribute’ Reissued!
Now available in PDF format—featuring 18 extra “views”
While the concept of “100 Views” is a long-standing Japanese tradition, print editions are inevitably finite in length. Despite adding pages, we could only fit 83 ‘views’ into KJ 100, in print. As digital editions are far more flexible, we have fortunately been able to add the “missing” views in our PDF edition, which is available HERE. Newly included are famous scenes from the Meisho Zue, less traveled places in Arashiyama, machiyarenovation, hidden hyperart, the dento bento (Kyoto tourism), Kyoto’s organic vegetables, organic chocolate, and indigo, an interview with Kyoto’s great photographer Mizuno Katsuhiko and his daughter, ‘The Fallen Persimmon Hut’ by Margaret Chula, and much more.
All contributors illuminate and highlight aspects of a city that is almost indefinable in its diversity. We believe you’ll find at least a hundred (and probably more) different reasons to enjoy this special immersive issue—wherever you are in these crazy pandemic times.
As always, we thank you for your support of Kyoto Journal’s award-winning journalism and our nonprofit all-volunteer effort.
