Japanese animator and illustrator Fumio Obata was born in Tokyo in 1975, and has been living on British soil since 1991. After four years at a Gloucestershire boarding school, he went on to study illustration at Glasgow School of Art and the Royal College of Art. Inspired by the Bande dessinée scene in France, he began to concentrate on comic books. His first, ‘L’incroyable Histoire de la Sauce Soja’ was published by Les Éditions de La Pastèque, Montreal, in 2011.
